The Don’t Wreck Asheville Coalition (DWAC) is a grassroots group of Asheville organizations, businesses, and residents united in its determination to ensure that the 2015 NCDOT plans for the I-26 Connector highway expansion are not constructed in their current form.  The future of Asheville is at stake because the plans for the I-26 Connector project will transform the beauty and cohesiveness of our City forever.  It’s time for the people to stand up and tell the City of Asheville and the North Carolina Department of Transportation that a commonsense alternative must be developed that doesn’t make us a city trapped in a concrete spaghetti bowl of highways, fly-overs, and retaining and sound walls.  Asheville is green, clean, and beautiful. United, we can keep it that way!!

This website is meant to educate Asheville residents about this project.  Go to the Facts Tab to learn more.  If you have any questions about the I-26 Connector, please let us know so we can address them publicly.  An informed people is a strong people!

Here’s what YOU can do:

  1. Sign the Don’t Wreck Asheville Petition to City leaders and NCDOT!
  2. Spread the word by displaying a yard or window sign.
  3. Contact your neighbors, friends, and the businesses you frequent to ask them to sign the Don’t Wreck Asheville Petition.
  4. Educate yourself about the problems with the current I-26 Connector plans so you can educate others!  There’s lots of great information on this website.

The ONLY way to stop the current plans for the I-26 Connector is for us – the people of Asheville – to scream, “NO WAY!!”
